THE INN’s Commitment to Providing a Safe Environment for Customers and Employees

At THE INN the safety and wellbeing of customers and employees has always been a fundamental part of our business. With the current Covid-19 situation we are doing everything to ensure that visitors to our Hotel, Restaurant & Bar will enjoy a safe experience and feel confident that THE INN is following strict guidelines to minimise any risk. We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and have worked hard before re-opening to make sure new procedures were in place.

To meet the new challenges presented by COVID-19, we have responded by implementing our Stay Safe Policy which will provide a safe and clean environment for all, protecting the health and safety of all our employees and customers. All employees will receive COVID-19 safety and cleaning procedures training. Specific training on any new/changing Government advice will be given and protocol relating to any Covid-19 cases within THE INN environment will be followed by Management.

THE INN has also signed up to Jersey’s Visit Safe Charter to uphold safe policies throughout the Island’s tourism industry establishments.

THE INN always sets the most demanding expectations for cleaning and safety headed up by our Housekeeping Manager. With our Safe Stay Policy, we are enhancing these standards further to ensure customer confidence. We have taken guidance from the Jersey and UK Governments, as well as local Environmental Health authorities and WHO recommendations.

We look forward to welcoming our customers back when they are free and comfortable to travel once again and hope all our guests and diners will be confident in THE INN’s procedures to safeguard everyone in these unprecedented times.

Customer and Employee Health

Physical Distancing

** Masks must be worn in all indoor communal areas. They can be removed to eat & drink.

** Customer’s contact details will be taken, if not already provided when booking, for Government of Jersey’s Track & Trace purposes.

Customers are advised to practice physical distancing by standing at least one metres away from other groups of people not with them, when moving around THE INN. Employees will be reminded to practice social distancing by standing at least one metre away from customers and other employees whenever possible. THE INN will also comply with safe occupancy limits currently in place.

Employees have been trained to minimise physical contact with guests and colleagues as much as possible. Food service tables have increased spacing and service will be from as safe a distance as possible. Our Reception desk has a protective screen and employees throughout all areas will endeavour to use the most effective way to limit contact in the way they offer service, payments etc. Areas will be cleaned and sanitised as appropriate between guests.

Hand Cleaning and Sanitisers

Correct hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap is vital to help combat the spread of the virus. All employees have been instructed to wash their hands, or use sanitizer when a sink is not available, every 60 minutes (for 20 seconds) and after any of the following activities: using the bathroom, sneezing, touching the face, cleaning, smoking, eating, drinking, accepting items from a guest (cash, credit card, key card), taking a break, and before a shift and as needed throughout the shift.

Hand sanitisers are placed at key customer & employee entrances and contact areas – regular use is encouraged from everyone.

Reporting Health Concerns

Our employees have been given clear instructions on how to respond swiftly to suspected cases of COVID-19. We will be ready to provide support to our guests. Employees are instructed to stay home if they do not feel well and are instructed to contact the Manager if they notice a co-worker or guest with a cough, shortness of breath or other known symptoms of COVID-19. Employees and guests who are exhibiting any of the symptoms of COVID-19 while on the property are advised to immediately notify the Management.

Our Managers will follow the correct procedures in the event of a suspected case, and any confirmed cases of COVID-19 will be promptly reported to local health authorities in accordance with appropriate actions recommended by the Government of Jersey. Current testing and self isolation procedures will be strictly followed for both guests and employees.

Cleaning Procedures

Our cleaning products and protocols include approved disinfectants that meet Environmental Health requirements for use and effectiveness against viruses, bacteria and other airborne pathogens. We are working with our suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of these cleaning products and any necessary PPE.

Communal Areas

Cleaning and disinfecting will be frequent (multiple times per day) with an emphasis on high contact areas with hard non-porous surfaces particularly around the reception area, lift and lift buttons, door handles, public toilets, room keys and locks, stair handrails, bar area, dining surfaces and all seating areas. Food service tables in the Restaurant, Bar and Terrace have increased spacing between them and minimal items placed on the table. Thorough cleaning and sanitising will take place between diners.

Guest Rooms

Our cleaning and disinfecting protocols within guest rooms will pay particular attention to high-touch, hard nonporous items including television remote controls, toilet seats and handles, door and furniture handles, tap handles, telephones, in-room control panels, light switches, temperature control panels, safes, hairdryers, irons, luggage racks and hard flooring. Magazines and paper items have been removed from guest rooms. The frequency of room cleaning during a guest’s stay may be altered based on guest requirements.

All information current as at 1st December 2020 in accordance with the current Government of Jersey guidelines.
